All people want to know about their past, where they came from, who were their ancestors, how they lived centuries ago, the stories of how they came to the territory they live in now. These stories of the past inform us about the present and help us plan for the future.

The Story of the Rock and the Cedar

My people know about their past from three sources of information: Oral Tradition, Archeology & Anthropology, and Euro-American history. The Sahnish Shield represents the Oral Tradition of the past. Using symbols, the Sahnish Culture Society share the story of their past as an inspiration for the future.
